About the Boat

Built to LLoyds A! by Bishop & Potter, Kent UK, Zealander is a Ferro Sloop. Tremendously strong boat, she was designed for offshore racing but the design was superseded by bulb keel racers in the 80's. Nevertheless she is an able ocean going yacht, kept up properly and has 4 transatlantic crossings under her keel, as well as passages here in the Northern isles, Faeroe Islands and Norway. Re-engined with a new Beta 43 last year she has a motoring range of around 300 miles, the yacht is situated in the marina at Skeld on the West side of Shetland, a fine sheltered harbour in easy cruising distance of some of the best sailing areas in Europe
